Barack Obama is going to Lynchburg!

19 08 2008

Our next president is going to be in the town where I graduated from high school and college!

A BIG part of me is really excited, because I think it’s important for him to campaign in places like Lynchburg. And, I’m actually really proud that VA has become one of the purple states. But, there’s just this little part of me that can’t help but think, why did Virginia wait until I left to start getting so socially & politically interesting? OK, I guess it was a pretty interesting area when the settlers founded Jamestown, but it always seemed pretty stuck in conservative crap when I lived there. Maybe I’m just jealous that I’m not there to see my state grow up and become more open-minded.

Well, listen up, Lynchburgers…..tomorrow is going to be a good day!

Happy Tuesday

19 08 2008

I don’t think I’ve really gotten into the swing of things with my blog yet. I’m kind of torn about what qualifies as “newsworthy.” Being in the public relations industry, I am constantly asking myself that question in relation to ”real” news outlets and client placements – and, by real I mean traditional pubs and blogs that actually have a readership. Obviously, real news outlets have to answer to their readers, so they have to ensure that whatever they publish is relevant to those readers. I guess I haven’t really figured out who my readers are yet…..ok, I’m pretty sure I’m my only reader right now, but I haven’t figured out my desired readers.

So, why am I writing this blog? I think it’s just to keep my friends and family in the loop – I feel like the emergence of social media has made it so much easier to stay in contact with everyone, but now I can’t keep up with keeping in touch. So, I think I’ll use this blog as a forum for random updates on my life and whatever I happen to care about at any given moment.

Enjoy!

The first day without the roomies….

It’s a good thing that I have about 19 different client media opps going on. If not, I’d have time to dwell on the fact that our office is noticably less fun without the Roomies here. Here’s a peek into the wonderful world of life with Carly & Heather:

The times they are a changin’

7 08 2008

Well, here it is…my first official blog post on Pink Peaches. I actually started this blog a few months ago, and I had all these grand plans for how I was going to be organized and do restaurant reviews, and even have guest bloggers –my awesome friends! I have now come to the realization that I just have to start writing and hopefully things will start to fall into place…..don’t worry, I’m not holding my breath or anything.

I was actually inspired to start writing today, because my FABULOUS co-worker, Carly, started a blog for us all to read about her upcoming adventures in the Big Apple. Yes, she and her also FABULOUS roomie, Heather, are leaving the Big Peach and heading north for bigger and better things. As if losing those two wasn’t bad enough, my hot gay work boyfriend, Joe, is also leaving for a new job. He’ll still be here in the Peach, but it just won’t be the same :(

While I’m not altogether happy with the personnel changes in the office, I do have to admit that my personal live has been taking a ride on the HOT TAMALE TRAIN recently. I got a kick-ass apartment in L5P and I’m in the process of moving out of the apartment that I’ve shared with my most awesome roomie for the last two years. I’m going to miss hanging with her, but we really didn’t see each other that much when we lived together anyway. Plus, I LOVE my cute little one-bedroom with the claw-foot tub and hardwood floors. I’ll post pics eventually.

Well, I gotta do some stuff and take care of some things – vague enough for ya? ;)
